Do any of us even remember our first day of school when we were kids? For some of us it was a time of excitement to meet our new teacher and classmates. For others of us, it was a nervous time, and we spent many restless nights preparing for that day to make sure we were prepared to make a good first impression.

Well, in the last few weeks, Class 31 of Leadership Oklahoma had their “first day of class” moment as they interacted with their new classmates at St. Crispin’s. I was honored to welcome the new class to our program and watch as they began to gel after just a few hours together.

Little do they know that over the next several months and years, many of those folks they met for the first time at St. Crispin’s will become some of their closest friends in the world. This truly is an exciting time for them, and… to be honest… they are a very impressive class. They truly might compete for “best class ever!”

It has now been many years since I attended school, but I still look forward to class reunions and reuniting with old friends. In Leadership Oklahoma, we do that through our Membership Activities and this month, we held our Fall Forum at the beautiful new Shangri-La Lodge on Grand Lake. It was a beautiful venue with an amazing line up of speakers to discuss the challenges and opportunities our state has with energy generation and distribution. We also presented the annual Distinguished Leadership Award to the very deserving Michele Campbell, Class XXIII and Lifetime Member. She has contributed so much to this organization and has set a very high bar for all of us to try and match. If you missed the Fall Forum, you missed a lot.

It is a time of new beginnings and a time for growing our network through Leadership Oklahoma. Year 31 for our organization is off and running.
